Role Overview
The
Gas Compliance Manager
plays a central role in ensuring our gas safety obligations are met across all properties.
This is a
desktop-based position
focused on reviewing repair and servicing records, validating costs, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring every aspect of our gas operations is safe, compliant, and commercially sound.
Working closely with our supply chain partners, the role requires a balance of
technical understanding, commercial awareness, and excellent communication
. You'll help drive quality assurance and consistency across all gas-related activities while supporting suppliers through our digital platform and KPI framework.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Review CP12s, service records, and remedial documentation to confirm full compliance with statutory and internal standards.
Conduct desktop audits of supplier documentation and ensure all evidence is properly recorded within our Axis system and supplier portal.
Identify and follow up on non-compliant or incomplete work, providing clear feedback and guidance to suppliers.
Supplier Engagement
Act as the main point of contact for our gas subcontractors and engineers, supporting them with technical queries, documentation standards, and process improvements.
Use our supplier portal and KPI dashboards to monitor performance, track trends, and drive continuous improvement.
Commercial Review
Review and authorise supplier costs, quotes, and remedial charges against agreed rates and scopes of work.
Support financial reconciliation and identify opportunities for better cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
Reporting & Improvement
Produce regular compliance and performance reports, highlighting key trends, risks, and improvement actions.
Contribute to the ongoing development of Preferred's compliance processes, digital tools, and supplier performance metrics.
Ensure all data is accurately maintained in Axis and aligned with our 18 KPI monitoring framework.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Strong working knowledge of gas safety compliance and relevant legislation (Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998).
Previous experience in gas compliance, audit, or coordination within a housing, property, or facilities environment.
Excellent analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Commercial understanding of cost validation, SORs, and supplier charge reviews.
Confident communicator with proven experience engaging engineers and subcontractors.
Competent user of digital systems and compliance portals (e.g. Axis, Propeller, simPRO, or equivalent).
Desirable:
ACS gas qualifications or prior experience as a qualified gas engineer.
Experience managing supplier networks or compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with performance monitoring or KPI-based supplier evaluation.
