Job Summary

The Welcome is a Knutsford based community charity, providing a safe space to access the basics in housing, healthcare, education, employment and nutritious food.

We run a busy cafe serving breakfast and lunch and also provide a lunchtime meals on wheels service delivering to local residents who find it difficult to visit our centre or prepare their own meals.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will support the kitchen staff in meal preparation and food safety practices, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. This role is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a restaurant environment while contributing to the overall success of our kitchen.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and plating of meals, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the kitchen manager. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times. Participate in stock management by helping to receive deliveries and store food items appropriately. Serving customers, taking orders and payments. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and high-quality food presentation.

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is essential. Familiarity with meal preparation techniques and culinary terminology is beneficial. Knowledge of food safety practices is preferred; up to date training will be provided. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well under pressure are essential traits for success in this role.

Hours:

This role will be for 3 mornings per week. The days / hours may change and there will be a requirement to work additional days for up to 6 hours to cover busy periods or annual leave.
