The Role
A part-time opportunity for an experienced payroll administrator with book-keeping and project financial reporting experience has arisen to join a busy small finance team, initially on a 1 year contract. The role demands accuracy, diligence and the ability to multitask effectively. The person will be required to manage all aspects of the payroll in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with HMRC payroll regulations, as well as assisting with project reporting and supporting the current Accountant with transaction processing when required.
The person will be joining at a time of transition from outsourced to in-house running of the payroll and the further strengthening of the finance function through implementation of a digital transformation project and accordingly the appointment to this role is a key component of that decision.
Responsibilities
To manage all aspects of the payroll including assisting with the transition of the payroll to in-house
To assist with monthly project reporting for two large funded projects
To support the current Accountant with income and expenditure transaction processing
Additional Duties
Provide holiday cover within the finance team when required.
Contribute to strategic planning and delivery as part of the wider team.
Support cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Uphold the Chamber's values and professional standards in all interactions.
Requirements
Experience of administering a payroll in-house in compliance with HMRC payroll regulations
Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
At least 2 years' experience of running a payroll, ideally in Xero
At least 2 years' bookkeeping experience working in an accounts department, ideally using Xero
At least 2 years' experience of producing finance reports, ideally for funders
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with CRM systems desirable.
Person Specification
Proven work experience as a Payroll and Accounts Administrator
Experience of producing finance reports, ideally for funders
Proficient in payroll and financial software, including Xero
Personable and confident, with a natural ability to build rapport.
A friendly and proactive team player, always ready and willing to assist colleagues

Hours
Core office hours are Mon - Thu 9am - 5pm and Fri 9am - 3.45pm. This role is designed to be 12 hours per week, with flexibility in how these hours are distributed.
