Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses as appropriate
Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO.
Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour
Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
Share information about pupils with other staff, parents / carers, internal and external agencies, as appropriate
Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils as required
Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist
Administer medication in accordance with an agreed plan under direction of healthcare practitioner and following appropriate training
Update pupil records
Assist with break-time supervision including facilitating games and activities
Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits
Support pupils in using basic ICT
Undertake moving and handling activities as required
Safeguarding
Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils, and help to safeguard pupils' wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education and our school's child protection policy

What You Need to Succeed
Qualifications and experience
Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, or other relevant qualification in nursery work or childcare (or willingness to work towards a qualification if not already held) Desirable
GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A to C) including English and Maths Experience of working with children
Skills and knowledge
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Good organisational skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and adults
Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of all pupils
Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs
Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to the role, and ability to apply this effectively in supporting teachers and pupils
Excellent verbal communication skills
Active listening skills
The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning
Understanding of roles and responsibilities within the classroom and whole school context
Knowledge of ASD
Knowledge of working outside of the classroom

Enjoyment of working with children
Sensitivity and understanding, to help build good relationships with pupils
