We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Term Time Only Learning Mentor / Teaching Assistant to support students' educational development within our Alternative education environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about alternative education, using animals to support learning and have good literacy, and numeracy skills .
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to implement lesson plans, support outside and classroom activities, and assist students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism and disabilities. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to children's growth and learning in a nurturing setting which uses animalsd especially horses to support the mental development of young people .
Responsibilities
Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects related to animals and nature .
Support individuals with maths , literacy and science.
Support learning management and create a positive learning environment for children of different ages from 8 years to 16 .
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism or disabilities.
Help implement behavior management strategies and support social-emotional development.
Facilitate activities that promote childhood development.
Assist with organization of animals and their environements including stable management .
Setup of learning materials, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
Support children's individual learning plans and adapt teaching methods as needed to meet diverse needs.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student progress.
Qualifications
Experience working with children in educational settings or youth work .
Knowledge of special education techniques, behavior management, and working with children with autism or disabilities.
Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive environment for all learners.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and students.
Prior experience with animals and horses is advantageous.
Passion for working with children and supporting their educational journey through patience and understanding. This role provides an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on young learners' lives while developing professional skills in education support services.
