Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the care home kitchen
- Plan and create menus, ensuring variety and quality of food offerings to the service users
- Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and portion sizes
- Supervise kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Chef in care home or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary principles
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills:
- Cook: Proficient in cooking techniques and able to prepare a variety of dishes
- Kitchen: Familiarity with kitchen equipment, tools, and procedures
- Supervising: Ability to lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff
- Hospitality: Focus on providing excellent customer service and creating a positive dining experience
- Food production: Knowledge of food production processes, including sourcing ingredients, preparation, cooking, and plating
- Help: Willingness to assist other team members as needed in a collaborative work environment
