Due to significant growth, we are now looking to hire a Senior Associate or Partner for our Finance Dispute Resolution department.
The candidate will be a qualified solicitor with significant PQE, an experienced fee earner who has managed their own caseload of secured lending repossession proceedings and unsecured debt recovery, acting for both banks and building society clients, with knowledge of the regulatory issues that both banks and building societies face. Knowledge of conveyancing professional negligence, and Landlord & Tenant with focus on relief from forfeiture would be beneficial.
The candidate will be supported by the wider team on litigation files, with the candidate being responsible for the oversight and supervision of matters whilst also helping colleagues progress their careers.
Reporting to the Head of Finance Dispute Resolution, this role is full-time, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week and based at our Leeds office although candidates who wish to work on a hybrid basis will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Progressing own caseload of matters which include dealing with all aspects of secured and unsecured debt recovery, with a focus on complex residential property possession proceedings. Knowledge of CPR 55 is essential.
Drafting of claim forms and all associated documentation, including Applications, witness evidence, Defences, Replies, and saving of documentation on Case/File Management System
Dealing with the Client, Court, Opponents &/or their solicitors, 3rd party agents such as Counsel clerks, LPC, Asset Managers and 3rd parties such as property management companies.
Drafting substantive advice to clients, with consideration of both legal and commercial strategy.
Drafting Relief from Forfeiture application and associated documentation
Time recording in the firm's case management systems.
Providing support and training to fee earners in the financial dispute resolution department.
Assisting with the supervision and development of paralegals and trainee solicitors
Working to client agreed or Departmental service standards.
Any other tasks as set by the Partner & Head of Finance Dispute Resolution

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will:Be a qualified solicitor with significant PQE.
Have experience in financial legal services, specifically property repossession work or at least someone with asset finance litigation experience.
Have sound knowledge of CPR 55.
Enjoy complex workloads and working in a contentious area of the law.
Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines with your caseloads.
Be strong and resilient litigator.
Be resolution focused and a strong client manager.
