The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, efficiency, compliance, and team development within our egg pasteurisation plant. This role ensures that output targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and safety. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimise operational processes, and lead a skilled workforce to deliver business objectives efficiently and effectively.
Production & Efficiency
Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are met while maintaining high-quality standards
Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and raw material planning to optimise production efficiency.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive initiatives to enhance productivity and cost- effectiveness.
Implement and manage overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvements to minimise downtime and waste.
Continuous Improvement
Ensure transparency by identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the team to contribute to process enhancements.
Utilise Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to streamline operations and eliminate inefficiencies.
Compliance & Hygiene
Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, including BRC, HACCP, and other relevant industry standards.
Maintain and uphold hygiene and cleanliness across all operational areas, ensuring adherence to environmental and health & safety policies. Conduct regular audits and work closely with regulatory bodies to maintain certifications and compliance.
Team Leadership, Training & Development
Nurture, lead, mentor, and develop our operational team to build a highly skilled and motivated team.
Implement training programmes to ensure team competency in food safety, hygiene, and operational best practices
.Foster a strong, positive St Ewe safety culture by promoting and enforcing safe working practices across the site.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Work closely with our procurement and logistics teams to manage inventory levels effectively.
Ensure efficient use of raw materials and reduce waste through effective planning and process control.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the St Ewe senior leadership team to align operational strategies with business goals.
Collaborate with our Quality Assurance, R&D, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to drive plant performance and new product initiatives.
Build strong relationships with our external suppliers and regulatory authorities.
Skills Required
Strong leadership, team development, and people management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive data-led decisions.
Proficiency in production management systems and ERP software.
Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices.
Strong understanding of food safety standards (e.g., BRC, HACCP, GMP) and compliance requirements.
Good understanding of lean manufacturing and the ability to implement from the ground up
Skilled in use of Six Sigma techniques to drive data-driven improvements is desirable
Relevant Experience
Proven experience in an operations management role within food manufacturing, ideally in liquid egg processing, dairy, or a similar high-care environment.
* Experience in driving efficiency improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies.
