Job Title: Pastoral Assistant
Location: Bankside College, Hanley Castle, WR8 0AD
Salary: 22,440 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 4:00pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start Date: October 2025

About the Role
As a Pastoral Assistant, your work will be challenging, rewarding, and impactful.
You will:

  • Report directly to the Senior Leadership Team on trends in pupil behaviour and support the implementation and evaluation of whole-school communication and behaviour strategies.
  • Assist in the smooth reintegration of students back into the classroom following incidents or periods of absence.
  • Implement agreed strategies to manage and improve behaviour, promoting a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor and analyse pupil behaviour using the school's online behaviour management system, ensuring accurate and timely records.
  • Provide an on-call response to support teaching staff when additional assistance is required.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to support learning and pupil engagement, ensuring consistent and effective approaches.
  • Support students in following school rules and achieving their individual objectives, helping them build self-regulation and confidence.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of all pupils by acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person under the guidance of the safeguarding lead.
  • Support ongoing CPD by sharing knowledge and best practice on communication and behaviour strategies, empowering pupils' personal and academic development.
Essential Requirements:
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • High standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience working in an educational setting with a range of pupils
  • Successful experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour

About Us
Bankside College is an exciting new venture near Hanley Castle, Worcester. Working in partnership with the Outcomes First Group and Options Autism, the College will provide a Further Education experience for those aged 16 to 24 year-olds with autism, complex needs and learning disabilities. The main aim of the College is to help its students prepare for adulthood and their next stage in life.
In a new purpose-built building, situated in acres of natural beauty, Bankside College will provide a varied, individualised curriculum to enable its students to gain vocational and independence skills to help them achieve their aspirations. Our staff will work together as a cohesive team, to provide the very best experience for the students which will include practical activities, Maths, English and Digital Literacy. The curriculum will have a focus on individual targets, personal skills and enrichment which will include The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Some students will also take part in supported work experience, social enterprise programmes, and volunteering.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
