Job Summary


We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pastry and baking, with the ability to create delicious desserts and pastries that delight our customers. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Food Preparation:



Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, desserts, and sometimes breads. Weigh and measure ingredients accurately for consistent results. Apply specific pastry techniques for doughs, fillings, and finishing touches.

Presentation & Creativity:



Decorate and present pastries and desserts with an eye for detail, ensuring they are aesthetically pleasing. Contribute creative ideas for new dessert and pastry items for the menu.

Hygiene & Safety:



Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards, adhering to regulations like HACCP. Ensure all ingredients are stored and handled properly to maintain freshness and quality. Keep the workstation clean, organized, and free from hazards.

Operations & Stock Management:



Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies for the pastry section. Assist with ordering necessary ingredients and supplies. Minimize waste through proper portioning and storage techniques.

Team Collaboration:



Work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and coordination. Communicate effectively with colleagues to maintain an efficient workflow.

Compliance:



Follow all company procedures and complete required documentation related to food safety and health regulations

Skills & Qualities:



Technical Skills:

A good understanding of baking techniques and the pastry-making process.

Creativity:

The ability to develop appealing and innovative pastry designs and recipes.

Attention to Detail:

A keen eye for detail for both taste and presentation.

Time Management:

Efficiently manage time to meet service deadlines, especially given part-time hours.

Teamwork:

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven kitchen environment

Experience



Previous experience in a pastry or baking role is essential, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work. Proficiency in cake decorating techniques and knowledge of various baking methods. Familiarity with food production processes, including preparation, cooking, and packaging. Experience in the food industry or culinary environment is preferred, along with solid kitchen experience. Strong knife skills and understanding of food safety protocols are required. Background in catering or restaurant settings is a plus, enhancing your ability to work under pressure while delivering exceptional results.
