About the Role

The role involves travelling to a range of client sites across the South-East of England and Greater London, carrying out appliance testing to a high standard and ensuring every site is left safe, tidy, and fully compliant. You'll often be the face of the company, so professionalism, good communication, and a polite attitude are essential.

You'll be responsible for testing a range of electrical appliances in offices, care homes, supported living homes, NHS sites, warehouses, properties, and construction sites, producing accurate results that meet client and regulatory standards. The position requires daily travel (where applicable), attention to detail, and a strong sense of organisation.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities



Carry out In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) in line with the IET Code of Practice. Ensure all portable electrical items are safe for use and compliant with Health & Safety regulations. Conduct thorough testing to identify faults, damage, or non-compliant appliances. Perform quality assurance checks and produce accurate test records. Analyse results and document findings precisely. Liaise with clients to explain results, recommendations, and ensure minimal disruption to their business. Maintain and calibrate PAT testing equipment. Plan daily routes efficiently, accounting for traffic and site access. Complete and submit paperwork to the highest standard. Work independently on smaller sites and with colleagues on larger projects. Stay up to date with electrical safety standards and industry regulations.

Requirements



To apply, you must:

Hold a Level 3 qualification in PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent) Have valid business insurance, including public liability and professional indemnity Hold a full, clean UK driving licence and be confident travelling across multiple sites Have at least 1-2 years of professional PAT Testing experience Be punctual, arriving at least 15 minutes before scheduled start times Have excellent written and verbal communication skills Be customer-focused, polite, and professional at all times Wear company uniform on every site visit Provide your own PPE and adapters (safety boots, gloves, eye protection, 110v, 250v adapters etc) Be flexible with working hours, days and locations Have very strong time management and organisational skills Be reliable, respectful, and self-motivated Hold a valid PAT tester calibration certificate Be able to test 400-500 items per day on average (where applicable)

Additional Details



Base:

Home-based, covering South-East England and Greater London

Hours:

Mainly Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm (occasional evenings or weekends)

Probation:

6 months (based on performance)

Performance Reviews:

Every 3 months for feedback and development

Progression:

Part-time role with opportunity to move into full-time

Travel:

Daily travel required between client sites
