We are seeking a
Chartered Patent Attorney
to lead the drafting, strategy, and international protection of a forthcoming innovation initially filed in the UK, with global expansion planned.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and file UK patent applications and manage subsequent international filings.
Translate complex technical concepts into robust, defensible patent claims.
Advise on claim scope, novelty, and strategic protection of software-based inventions.
Conduct prior-art searches, assess patentability, and prepare response strategies.
Work closely with internal teams to refine invention disclosures.
Manage timelines, filing formalities, and liaise with IP offices as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
UK-qualified Chartered Patent Attorney
(CIPA registered).
Proven experience drafting and prosecuting software-related or data-driven technology patents.
Solid understanding of UKIPO and international (PCT, EP, US) filing procedures.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
Strong confidentiality awareness and ability to work independently on undisclosed innovations.
STEM degree (computer science, engineering, physics, or similar).
Desirable
European Patent Attorney
qualification.
Experience advising early-stage or high-growth technology companies.
Knowledge of enterprise or government-facing digital systems.
