Patient Access Coordinator (renal Outpatients)

Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Patient Access Coordinator to support in the management of our Renal & Transplant Outpatient service based at Guy's Hospital.



The Patient Pathway Co-ordinator will be an integral point of contact for the multi-disciplinary team, patients and service users, providing an in depth knowledge of outpatient journeys for multiple sub-specialities and will play a key role in the efficient running of the day to day activities of the unit.



You will join a well established outpatient team and will closely be working with the clinical team (both Nursing/CNS and Consultant).



We are a nationally recognised centre of excellence and carry out the largest number of Kidney transplants per year in the country. Our clinicians also receive referrals for complex patients from across the country as well.



Within your team you will work under the supervision of a B4 Team Lead who you will closely work together with to:



1) Sit reception when your clinics are running



2) Take responsibility of cashing up your allocated clinics



3) Support in manning the phone line and email inboxes



4) Support fellow colleagues in other areas as and when required



5) Appointment scheduling

The Patient Access Co-ordinator will be the first point of contact for patients and service users providing an in depth knowledge of outpatient and inpatient scheduling procedures for their speciality.



The Patient Access Co-ordinator will liaise closely with the clinical team and speciality management teams to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate appointments according to their care pathway.



Depending on the requirements of the service, the post holder will be required to rotate within the team, providing clinic reception cover, scheduling functions, general administrative support and telephone cover for their speciality. This will ensure that, at every contact with the Trust, patients are able to speak to staff who understand their scheduling needs and that clinical teams are always supported by knowledgeable administrative staff.



This post will include occasional cover for our wider administrative team at our satellite units in Borough, Tunbridge Wells and Sidcup.
