The role

We are seeking to appoint a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Officer to support research across the new NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

The National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre for Exeter (NIHR Exeter BRC) is a collaboration between University of Exeter (UoE), The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHS Royal Devon) and other SW NHS organisations. The first of its kind for the South West, its fundamental objective is to improve health outcomes for patients and the public by translating scientific breakthroughs into potential new treatments, diagnostics and medical technologies. The NIHR Exeter BRC has received \xc2\xa315.6M and will create an environment in the South West for world-leading researchers to thrive and contribute significantly to the local and national economy.

The post will support meaningful involvement of public members in the activities of the BRC by working closely with the PPIE manager, researchers and core NIHR Exeter BRC team. The post holder will be a main point of contact between public members and researchers and support effective relationships to foster partnership. The post-holder will plan annual events, initiate outreach activities and liaise with local and regional groups and communities to engage members of the public with the BRC, while developing their knowledge of research in order to relay the latest research information effectively.
