Job Description
Northern Ireland Veterinary Specialists are expanding their team to meet the needs of the practice. We are actively looking to recruit a patient care assistant to help our Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses in all aspects of patient care. NIVS is a specialist referral veterinary practice located just outside the village of Hillsborough. We offer orthopaedic, soft tissue, cardiology, medicine and ophthalmology services to dogs and cats and are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team of specialist Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses.

As a NiVS PCA you\'ll be involved in a variety of duties including:
- Maintenance of clinical areas following cleaning protocols.
- Patient handling and restraint.
- Feeding and walking inpatients and running in-house laboratory samples.
- Stock management.
- Cleaning and sterilisation of surgical instruments.
- Processing of diagnostic equipment and theatre maintenance.
The successful applicant will have a positive attitude, take direction constructively and work independently as well as being an active member of the team. You\'ll have good attention to detail, good communication skills, be capable of working well in a busy environment and be flexible to the needs of your colleagues and the practice.
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours in 8-hour shifts between 7.30am to 7.30pm Monday-Friday including 1 in 4 weekend shifts on a rota basis.

- We are not a training practice so are not able to offer a student nurse position at this time but are looking for someone keen to progress in other avenues.
