We are currently looking for a Patient Services Team Member to join our front-of-house team. While the title may be new, the role is key and familiar: it combines receptionist and administrative duties that are absolutely vital to the smooth running of a busy GP surgery.
The Role - More Than Just a Receptionist:
You'll be the first point of contact for our patients - in person, on the phone, and via digital communication. This is a varied, fast-paced role that requires a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help people. No two days are the same.
Your responsibilities will include:
Welcoming patients and visitors to the surgery
Answering incoming calls and handling enquiries professionally and empathetically
Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using our clinical system
Processing prescription requests and assisting with repeat prescriptions
Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including electronic and paper post
Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks such as scanning documents, filing results, and updating records
Handling patient data accurately and in line with confidentiality requirements
Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers
Assisting with recall systems and health campaigns
Working closely with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations
About You:
We're looking for someone who is:
Computer literate
- you'll be using clinical systems, emails, and Microsoft Office daily
Flexible and reliable
- to cover shifts and support your team as needed
A strong communicator
- with excellent spoken and written English
Naturally customer-focused
- with a calm, patient and professional manner
Organised and efficient
- able to manage multiple tasks with accuracy
A team player
- who enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a positive workplace
Please note: this is a permanent role and best suited to someone looking for a long-term opportunity. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for students seeking temporary or term-time-only employment.
Why Join Us?
A friendly and supportive team that genuinely enjoys working together
A varied role where you can learn and grow - no two days are the same
Ongoing training and development opportunities
A chance to make a real difference in the lives of our patients
Performance/salary review following successful completion of probation
