We are excited to be recruiting for a new role of Pastry Chef here at the Roker Hotel.
We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team as we continue to drive our exceptional Afternoon Tea offering and delicious cake counter to our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baking and pastry arts, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality desserts and baked goods. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked items while ensuring adherence to food safety standards and kitchen protocols.
There will be additional duties within the Kitchen including supporting the Breakfast Chef and managing our lunch and dinner menus. We are looking for an all round team player who will work closely with our team and ensure our guests food requirements are well looked after.
Responsibilities
Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, cakes, cookies, and other desserts according to established recipes.
Assist in the creation of new dessert items and contribute to menu development.
Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service and presentation of desserts.
Work and support team in Breakfast and Lunch and Dinner offerings also.
Maintain equipment and utensils in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure the safety and quality of all baked goods.
Skills
Proven experience as a chef in a restaurant or culinary setting, with a focus on pastry preparation.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques and pastry arts.
Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in food preparation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A creative mindset with a passion for producing visually appealing desserts.
