JOB TITLE: Payroll Assistant


REPORTS TO: Payroll Manager


LOCATION: Castle Donington


JOB PURPOSE:


This role, based within the Payroll Department, is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely employee payroll processing. The individual will also assist with various generalist and administrative tasks to provide essential support to the Payroll Department.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accurately calculate and process employee pay through electronic transfers for weekly, fortnightly, and monthly paid staff. Calculate and process overtime and shift payments as required. Manage holiday, sick leave, and maternity/paternity pay calculations. Ensure proper PAYE and National Insurance (NI) deductions are made and submitted to HMRC on time. Submit weekly Real-Time Information (RTI) reports via the Government Gateway (FPS&EPS). Process and ensure timely payments for employee Attachment of Earnings orders to the appropriate authorities. Maintain the Sage payroll system and update records accordingly. Set up new employees on payroll software. Issue P45s and other relevant tax documents to employees including pension letters. Investigate pay queries raised quickly and effectively to reach a resolution. Provide prompt and professional responses to any pay-related enquiries. Undertake general administrative duties associated with payroll functions. Collaborate effectively with members of the Finance and HR teams. Collate all payroll reports, balance e-booking and issue payslips via payroll portal.

Communication:

Demonstrate excellent communication skills, liaising effectively with colleagues, employees, and sites. Actively listen to instructions and ask clarifying questions when needed. Keep your manager informed of any work issues that may impact deadlines or operations.

Flexibility & Ad-Hoc Responsibilities:

Exhibit flexibility when required in regard to completion of processing payroll and other duties. * Undertake any reasonable task within your skill set, as business needs dictate
