We're looking for a dynamic and experienced
Payroll Manager
to join our forward-thinking HR Shared Services team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services to a diverse portfolio of public sector clients.
About the Role
As Payroll Manager, you'll lead skilled teams responsible for processing complex payrolls across local authority and educational establishments. You'll ensure operational excellence, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You'll be at the heart of a collaborative, customer-focused environment, where innovation and service quality are key.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage end-to-end payroll operations for multiple clients.
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, audit requirements, and internal policies.
Drive service improvements and efficiencies through automation and process redesign.
Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, pensions, and taxation.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to deliver quality services.
Manage and develop a high-performing payroll teams, fostering a culture of excellence.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience managing large-scale payroll operations, ideally within the public sector.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, LGPS/Teachers' Pensions, and HMRC requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for service improvement.
Experience with payroll systems (preferably iTrent) and reporting tools.
