About the Role



Northgate Accounting Services Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our professional team. This role is pivotal in supporting our clients by maintaining accurate financial records and processing payrolls. You'll play an essential role in helping our clients meet HMRC deadlines and manage their finances efficiently.

Key Responsibilities



Payroll:



Process end-to-end payroll, including complex payroll scenarios and ensure compliance with relevant legislation

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current payroll and taxation legislation.

Administer auto-enrolment processes, including re-enrolment

Conduct data analysis using strong Excel skills

Organise and prioritise tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy

Communicate clearly and professionally with both internal teams and external clients

Manage client expectations and promptly resolve any payroll-related issues

Onboarding:



Respond to new client inquiries by sending quote document

Respond to Bark inquiries

Follow up with a welcome phone call

Book in meetings with Leigh as required

Update Quotes on CRM system

Prepare and Send Engagement letters

Onboard client per checklist

Ensure Northgate Accounting is registered with HMRC to act on client behalf

Manage monthly marketing budget to decide where to allocate funds

Handle client disputes

General office duties

Requirements Essential Qualifications & Experience



Scottish Higher in Accounting (grades A-C) or equivalent practical experience

Proven track record managing Payroll

Proficient in Excel and cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks and/or Xero)

Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail

Desirable Qualifications & Experience



Certification from ICB, IAB, ATT or equivalent

Previous experience within an accountancy practice

Experience with client account management

Skills & Attributes

Effective written and verbal communication

Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks

High level of honesty and integrity
