Job Overview

At Cobrey Farms our people are at the heart of everything we do. With a permanent team of around 50 and a seasonal workforce that can grow to over 1,000 employees throughout the year, our payroll operation is central to keeping the business running smoothly.

We are looking for a committed Payroll Officer to take ownership of two large, fluctuating payrolls and work closely with colleagues across departments to support our employees from the moment they join us to the moment they leave.

Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process for both permanent and seasonal employees Input new starters, process leavers, administer holidays, sickness, and accommodation deductions Ensure bank payment cards are set up accurately and on time Manage RTI submissions, auto-enrolment tasks, and year-end payroll processes. Maintain and update employee records Work closely with operational departments Support colleagues to ensure correct paperwork is submitted and issues are resolved promptly Produce custom reports and management information Highlight inaccuracies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for system improvements Provide payroll costings and assist the Head of Finance with budgeting Ensure confidentiality and professional handling of employee information

What We're Looking For



Essential:

2-5 years payroll experience, ideally covering large or fluctuating workforces

Experience of RTI reporting and auto-enrolment pensions

Competence using payroll software.

Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport

High-level accuracy and attention to detail

Strong Excel and general IT skills

Ability to stay calm under pressure and prioritise effectively

Proactive approach and willingness to learn new systems

Friendly, professional manner with the ability to support a diverse workforce

Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the business

Desirable:

Experience working with seasonal labour CIPP qualifications
