HR Payroll - Ensuring Financial Integrity and Employee Satisfaction

Are you an experienced payroll professional with a passion for leadership and process improvement? We're looking for a Payroll Quality Team Lead to join our team and help ensure our payroll services run smoothly, accurately, and on time.


In this role, you'll lead a team of payroll practitioners, making sure they're supported, trained, and working to high standards, while playing a key part in delivering payroll for a wide range of customers, including the Council, Wiltshire schools, Academies and other external organisations. Responsibilities will include, ensuring appropriate operational resource allocation across the team, team inductions, appraisals, 1-2-1s, training and development, succession planning, recruitment and staff well-being (including occupational health), as well as ensuring staff are operating to a professional standard in line with Our Identity.


You'll work closely with our Payroll Specialists and Professional Leads to improve how we use our payroll system (Oracle ERP), streamline processes, and ensure compliance with legislation. You'll also help resolve complex payroll queries, support audits, and contribute to key projects and milestones like pay awards and year-end submissions.

Has strong experience in payroll operations Enjoys leading and developing a team Is confident using payroll systems and data reporting tools Can spot opportunities for improvement and make them happen Communicates clearly and works well with others
