The Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with a strong background in an accountancy practice environment. The ideal candidate will be confident managing multiple client payrolls, meeting strict submission deadlines, and communicating directly with clients to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients across varying pay frequencies.
Handle all statutory submissions, including RTI filings, pension uploads, and CIS returns.
Maintain up-to-date payroll records in line with HMRC and GDPR requirements.
Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and ensure timely receipt of payroll information.
Oversee auto-enrolment duties, P45/P60 processing, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.).
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless integration between payroll and accounts.
Monitor submission deadlines and take ownership of ensuring compliance at all times.
Key Requirements
Proven experience working in an accountancy practice handling multiple payrolls.
Extensive knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory payments, and HMRC procedures.
Proficient in payroll software including Xero Payroll and QuickBooks Payroll.
Experience with Smart Pensions, NEST, and similar auto-enrolment platforms.
Strong communication skills and confidence liaising directly with clients.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and time management.
