The role:
We're looking for a dedicated Payroll & Systems Officer to join our HR team . Within this role you'll be responsible for making sure everyone gets paid accurately and on time, while ensuring everything complies with current legislation and company policies. You'll also manage our time and attendance system to help keep payroll on track and provide useful insights into workforce activity. It's a key role that supports both the team and the business.
You will be required to work on site Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility will be required. This is a full-time role based at our headquarters in Kendal.
What you'll be doing:
Manage the accurate and timely payment of employee salaries through the internal payroll system.
Administer statutory schemes including Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), and Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP).
Process all employee lifecycle changes, including new starters and leavers.
Provide accurate advice to employees and managers on matters related to pay, taxation, and National Insurance.
Support the administration of all company pension schemes.
Oversee and maintain the company's time and attendance system (Chronicle).
Regularly update and maintain the Organisation Structure Chart.
Prepare and submit required HMRC documentation, including monthly FPS and EPS reports, year-end submissions, and P11Ds.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month-end payroll processes.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold employee trust by safeguarding payroll information in line with data protection policies.
What you'll need:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a payroll-focused role, ideally within a similar environment.
Proficient in payroll systems; experience with SAGE is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Good knowledge of auto-enrolment processes and pension scheme administration.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Exceptional organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
