Payroll Team Leader
to join our forward-thinking HR / Payroll Shared Services team.
About the Role
As one of two
Payroll Team Leaders
, you will lead a skilled team responsible for processing multiple complex payrolls. You'll ensure operational excellence, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. All at the heart of a customer-focused environment, where innovation and service quality are key.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the payroll team, co-ordinating day to day activities and planning workloads
Provide technical and professional advice to the payroll team, to the service and its customers
Manage and develop a high performing payroll team and implement any associated training, mentoring and coaching programmes
Produce action plans and assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and marketing strategies
Promote good working relationships with customers, internal colleagues, other local authorities and outside agencies
What We're Looking For
Extensive experience and knowledge of payroll legislation, terms and conditions of pay, Local Government and Teachers Pensions and HMRC requirements
Experience of managing and developing people within a service delivery organisation
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience of delivering customer services in a fast paced and high-volume working environment
A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for service improvement
