Job Advert
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Thames Valley Police's Payroll team as an Apprentice Payroll Technician. In this role, you will provide comprehensive Payroll service for Thames Valley Police gaining expertise in all matters relating to the day-to-day running of a payroll.


To develop you as an efficient and effective Payroll Technician, you will undertake the Payroll Administrator level 3 apprenticeship. You will receive structured off the job development, supported by workplace learning and mentoring.


As you develop your skills, your role will be to

Ensure our employees are paid accurately and on time Provide advice and information to our officers and staff in relation to their pay, terms and conditions and relevant legislation Process the day to day amendments which includes, changes to pay (hours and allowances), review sickness records, create and maintain family related leave, and process leavers. Understand and be able to calculate tax, NI and Pension Have knowledge of Police Regulations

The successful applicant willhave an inquisitive nature, a desire to constantly learn new things, and be highly organised. The payroll runs monthly and being able to understand and prioritise work in order to meet the deadlines, is a must. We require you to have the ability to operate a variety of computer applications namely Excel, Word and Outlook. A good standard of education is essential as you will be communicating with our customer regularly, via phone, email and letters. An interest in maths would be helpful.


The apprenticeship is aimed at those who are

not

experienced in the provision of payroll administration and/or have

not

achieved qualifications in this field.
