We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Nurse to join our team for Lewisham Hospital, London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Duties
Conduct thorough assessments of children's health and developmental needs, creating tailored care plans.
Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations safely, monitoring children for side effects or complications.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to children and their families during treatment and hospital stays.
Collaborate with doctors, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic paediatric care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in line with legal, ethical, and safeguarding standards.
Educate parents and carers on children's health conditions, treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive care.
Skills
Strong patient care skills, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity towards children and their families.
Sound knowledge of child development and paediatric health conditions, enabling effective assessment and intervention.
Excellent communication skills, adapting language and approach to suit children of different ages and their carers.
Ability to remain calm, reassuring, and professional when caring for distressed or anxious children.
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple patients and treatments within a busy paediatric environment.
Requirements
Current registration with the NMC as a Registered Children's Nurse (RCN)
Minimum 1 year of paediatric nursing experience within the NHS or a similar healthcare environment (required)
Strong knowledge of child development, paediatric health conditions, and family-centred care practices
Excellent communication, clinical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children of all ages and their families
Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations
Must pass an enhanced DBS check and drug screening
