About the Service




Hillcrest Futures are looking to recruit two Neurodevelopmental Peer Workers at the Angus Mental Health Peer Support Service at Hillcrest Futures' The Neurodevelopmental Peer Worker will use their lived experience as a neurodivergent individual to support others experiencing challenges associated with neurodivergent conditions. They will be expected to share aspects of their personal journey, including coping strategies, tools, and techniques they have found helpful. This may also include where appropriate, supporting people to use screening tools if required.

About the Role




Working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, the Neurodevelopmental Peer Worker will help promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of neurodivergent individuals. They will deliver one-to-one sessions and facilitate activities aimed at enhancing self-advocacy, mental health, and wellbeing, and contribute to a coordinated neurodevelopmental pathway of support across Angus.



About You




You will:

Use personal neurodivergent experience (e.g., autism, ADHD etc.) to provide empathetic, peer-led support. Facilitate 1:1 peer support session to share coping strategies and promote confidence in navigating services and everyday life. Promote awareness of neurodivergence among individuals, families, professionals, and communities. Support neurodivergent individuals to engage with services in a way that respects their sensory, communication, and processing needs. Co-design and lead neurodivergence-informed activities that promote autonomy, wellbeing, and skill-building. Reduce stigma and promote equality and acceptance through education and role modelling. Help shape inclusive service delivery by feeding back insights from the neurodivergent community. Maintain professional boundaries and contribute to a positive team environment. Undertake vocational qualifications to enhance professional development. Comply with operational guidance and service-specific requirements. Out-of-hours and weekend work may be required to meet service needs.
