An opportunity has arisen within our People & Culture team for a
Reception Administrator
to join Harwich Haven Authority on a
part-time 6 month fixed term contract
basis.
This is a key front-of-house role, providing full reception services alongside administrative support across the employee lifecycle. You'll play an important part in delivering a
professional, welcoming and efficient service
to colleagues, visitors, and external contacts, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Authority.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in customer service, and is confident working independently as the first point of contact for the organisation.
About the role
Working as a member of the People & Culture team, you will:
Act as the
first point of contact
for Harwich Haven Authority
Manage the reception desk and greet visitors, creating a positive first impression
Maintain a welcoming, tidy and well-presented reception area
Respond to public enquiries and provide information as appropriate
Receive post and deliveries and arrange couriers
Raise purchase orders for goods, services and office supplies
Maintain site security processes, including visitor badges, passes and logs
Support the People & Culture team with day-to-day administrative tasks, handling confidential information appropriately
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
Approachable and professional, with a positive and helpful attitude
Confident communicating with people at all levels, both internally and externally
Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the reception function
Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential information
Detail-focused, reliable and well-organised
Previous reception or administrative experience would be beneficial, but the right attitude and approach are just as important.
Skills and experience
Strong customer service and communication skills
Good organisational and time management abilities
Competent IT skills, including
Word, Excel and Outlook
Understanding of data protection principles
Awareness of health and safety responsibilities in the workplace
Working pattern
Part-time: 3 days per week
Monday, Thursday and Friday
8:30am - 4:30pm
, with a 30-minute lunch break
Office-based role
(due to the nature of the position)
