A vacancy has arisen within the People Team for a proactive and detail-oriented People and Payroll Officer. This fixed-term maternity cover role is responsible for providing robust administrative support to the People Department and ensuring the accurate preparation of payroll data. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining colleague records, supporting HR processes, and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
To provide accurate administrative support to the People Department;
To process holiday and other leave requests on to the time and attendance system;
Maintain data on time and attendance systems, in particular shift data;
Update data such as personal data, job and role profile data;
Coordinate the induction process, liaising with the line managers, compliance team, hygiene and others as relevant;
To input data on to payroll system accurately;
Prepare and validate payroll data for submission to Head Office for timely processing.
Ensure accuracy of timesheets, leave records, and colleague changes affecting pay.
Assist with recruitment, including arranging open days, interviews and outcome correspondence;
Updating relevant People KPI and other excel documents;
Assist with colleague communication and participation methods, such as updating notice boards;
Handling employee relations case work; in particular invitation letters & note taking;
Organising occupational health assessments;
General administrative support
Experience:
Proven experience in Payroll and/or HR
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook/ Excel/ Word
Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HR best practices desirable.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, ADP) and HRIS systems.
Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
