Head of People & Talent
Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland, UK, and mainland Europe. Through continuous investment within our teams, and our facilities, we have grown strongly over the years and established ourselves as a leader within the offsite pre-fabrication industry throughout Ireland and the UK.
Our rapid organic growth is fuelled by our people, our passion, and a commitment to a greener future. As we scale and open new satellite sites across the UK, we're looking for an experienced People Business Partner to help us align our expanding teams with our core values and maintain a consistent, high-performance culture.
Our values aren't just posters on the wall - they're embedded in how we work:
You will join a dynamic People and Talent team who believe
collaboration
and a
one team
approach is at the forefront of everything we do. We strive for continuous growth and
innovation
to achieve
excellence
in all areas whilst building strong relationships with our colleagues across the business. If you are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a team that values your dedication and input,
then come and join us.
The Role:
This is not your typical HRBP role. We need someone who thrives in a dynamic, multi-site environment and understands the unique challenges of a scaling business. You'll play a key role in embedding our culture, aligning people practices, and supporting satellite teams across Birmingham and Scotland as they grow.
You'll be part of a collaborative People & Talent team that's as focused on people as it is on performance - and you'll help shape the future of our organisation as we expand further across the UK, ROI and Europe.
You will serve as the strategic and operational People lead for new and emerging locations, working closely with regional leadership, site teams, and the central People & Talent Team. Your key focus will be to support and embed our core values, drive cultural consistency, and ensure our People practices and ways of working are aligned across the business.
You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and site leads, ensuring that people, performance, engagement, and growth remain a top priority as we scale.
###
Core Responsibilities of the role:
Strategic Business Partnering
Develop strong relationships with operational leaders in the England and Scotland regions to become a trusted advisor on all things people.
Understand business plans, growth goals, and team structures to ensure the People strategy supports wider business objectives.
Work closely with managers, the Organisational Design Specialist and the Training & Development Manager to provide tailored advice on workforce planning, team development, and succession.
Culture & Values Alignment
Lead initiatives to embed our core values across all People & Talent touchpoints - from hiring to onboarding, performance management, and internal communications.
Actively promote a consistent culture of trust, inclusion, and continuous improvement across our satellite offices and project teams.
Serve as a cultural ambassador during onboarding, helping new employees feel connected to the wider company purpose and ways of working.
Employee Relations & People Support
Provide expert guidance and coaching on employee relations, performance, absence, disciplinary, and grievance issues.
Ensure fair and consistent application of People policies and procedures.
Identify trends in employee feedback or ER activity and recommend proactive solutions.
Process & Policy Implementation
Support the rollout of new People & Talent initiatives, policies, and tools across regional teams, ensuring full compliance and alignment with company standards.
Help drive adoption of consistent performance management processes, learning pathways, and recognition initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Work closely with the central talent function to support the hiring of key regional roles.
Ensure a seamless and culturally aligned onboarding experience for all new joiners in your regions.
Engagement & Wellbeing
Partner with site managers to roll out engagement surveys and action plans.
Foster a high-trust, high-performance environment where people feel valued and heard.
Support mental health, wellbeing, and diversity & inclusion initiatives across the regions.
HR Metrics & Reporting
Provide regional insights and analysis on key People KPIs such as turnover, absence, ER cases, and engagement.
Use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Travel Requirements
This is a field-based role with travel across Birmingham and Scotland, and occasional travel to NI head office (expenses covered).
