People Manager
to join our business. This role, reporting into the Managing Director, will be responsible for the creation, development and investment into the people function and people activities across the organisation as we continue our growth journey.
Responsibilities and duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
Day to day running and management of the HR & People function
Employee relations - Be the "go to" for all people related enquiries and issues
Absence Management - Track, report and support with improvements
Performance management - Communicating and clarifying job responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and development planning that optimise employee performance and alignment with the business' strategic goals and growth.
Recruitment & retention
Candidate attraction
Liaising with agencies for senior appointments
Retention and engagement of existing employees
Development and roll out of Employee Value Proposition
Succession planning and talent mapping for the future
Employee training & development
Management of staff appraisal system, continuous professional development, qualifications, onboarding of new employees
Delivery of in-house training to the management team and employees
Identify training needs - creation of training and delivery (where appropriate)
Creation and maintenance of HR systems / processes
People policies & procedures
People process
Employee handbook
Keeping employee records up to date and in line with employment legislation
Track key statistics including absence, starters, leavers, return to work days to provide reports to Managing Director and Board
Legal
Keep handbook up-to-date working with external providers (where needed)
Identify policies that are required; write, train and roll out these policies internally
Coaching & Development of Line Managers
Proactive development of line managers - Walking the management team through questions they could ask to ensure investigations and situations are dealt with in the right manner (supportive to the employee and business)
Coaching about difficult conversations, performance management, mental health
Establish clear outcome-based goals capturing what success looks like for that team and for individual people and ensure that plans are in place for meeting those goals and priorities.
Payroll
Collate and manage data for external payroll provider (liaising with finance where appropriate)
Apprenticeships
Design and organise apprenticeship programmes.
Liaise with the college to ensure satisfactory progress.
Support apprentices to succeed.
HR Projects
Lead on becoming an employer of choice - Explore better health at work and other initiatives to support this.
Lead on employee engagement activities and surveys

What You Will Build
You will work closely with the Managing Director and Senior Leadership team to help achieve the vision and strategic business growth plan, focusing on a streamlined and methodical plan to deliver on Metador's brand promise more efficiently.
You will deliver results for our directors and shareholders by actively engaging with them to understand their overall needs, including product and sales growth.

Education and Skills
CIPD level 5 / 7 qualification or a relevant HR degree
Generalist HR experience - Happy operating in a "top to bottom" HR position across all aspects of HR
Willing and eager to learn new skills.
