Our team is made up of Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development (L&D), People Operations, and People Partners. We work collaboratively across all functions to deliver a people strategy that underpins Channel 4's Fast Forward strategy--focusing on innovation, development, and engagement.
The People Operations & Experience Team are specialists in Operations, Reward, Data, Employee Engagement and People Systems, supporting the wider People Team to ensure that our people are developed and engaged to enable the channel to deliver on its remit and produce award-winning content.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of People Operations & Experience, the People Operations Lead is a key member of the People Operations & Experience management team.
The role brings together the end-to-end employee journey within C4 with focus on an engaging employee experience in C4.
This role includes relationship management with our key service contracts, establishing, improving, and embedding people processes and policies across the organisation consistently to make C4 the best place to work.
Whilst the role will very much be operationally hands on, it will input and support strategic initiatives in the People department which requires experience of gap/root cause analysis, process reengineering, identifying improvements and opportunities, as well as establishing and implementing solutions.
This role will manage a team of 4 People Operations Assistants.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for ensuring HR Operations has good governance and processes are in place to the highest standard resulting in accurate and consistent data being recorded within our HR system, 4People.
Ensures all employee lifecycle processes are at the highest standard resulting in accurate and consistent data collection in line with GDPR.
Regularly reviews employee lifecycle processes to identify and close gaps that may impact them.
Ensuring that all People Operations processes are documented in process map format with supporting guidance documents.
Management of internal and external service contract SLAs (Query handling, Payroll, Additional Workers, Occupational Health, Reference Checking etc.)
Attends regular meetings with all key service contracts ensuring smooth service delivery.
Produces monthly and quarterly KPIs/Metrics reports to be presented and shared with Head of People Operations and Experience, People Partners, People Leadership Team.
Ensures periodic audits of data gaps in 4People and take immediate steps to make sure that all data gaps are closed.
Develops a service driven approach that delivers self-service and a high-quality user experience whilst managing high volume transactions in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify customer issues and actively seeks to resolve them whilst creating efficiencies.
Works closely with the Manager, People Systems to introduce any new processes in 4People as well as sharing user feedback to improve the system and enhance user experience.
Responsible for HR Policies ensuring all meet the requirements of our Policy Framework including working with our Diversity and Inclusion team and Employee Rep Groups to embed our policies.
Responsible for preparing accurate payroll documentation for submission to outsourced payroll provider.
Works closely with Benefits and Pensions Manger to ensure required payroll data flows seamlessly to our outsourced benefits provider.
Responsible for supporting all audits in relation to People Operations.
Leads a team of People Ops Administrators to ensure that people, resources, and processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose.
Applying good practice tools and techniques to delivery of key people related activities such as Employee recognition and wellbeing programmes
Work closely with the People Partnering team and the wider People team to establish a service catalogue.
Updates, and where necessary establishes a disaster recovery plan for each of the People Operations suppliers and the internal service.
Supporting and coaching team members to facilitate knowledge and experience growth.
Manage the relationship with the outsourced Freelancer Payroll Management third party.
The ability to anticipate future needs, identifying upcoming pain points before they become issues, and shaping proactive strategies, not just reactive solutions.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Proven experience and management of operational HR activity.
Prior experience of process reengineering to keep HR processes accurate and relevant.
Prior experience of line management including coaching and performance management.
Problem solving and forward thinking (beyond fixing the immediate ask, seeking to understand the root cause).
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders from across the business.
Outcome focused with the ability to proactively take initiative, use good judgment to prioritise requests and be comfortable working based on initiative.
Strong analytical and organisational skills.
Great interpersonal skills, natural team player, who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues but equally able to work on own initiative.

77,656.00

Hybrid working
From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
Having everyone in the office three days a week gives us more opportunity to build our high performing, inclusive culture; to collaborate and to learn and share with each other, as well as helping to coordinate a regular pattern of home and office working days. Employees then have the flexibility to decide where they spend the rest of the working week. All our offices are open five days a week.
