In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.
Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we're just getting started.
Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.
The role
As a People Operations Specialist you will focus on the operational aspects of the employee lifecycle for our 1000+ workforce in the UK, Ireland, Spain & Italy, ensuring our people-related systems, processes and employee helpdesk run smoothly on an ongoing basis and continue to evolve as Dojo scales up in the UK and internationally.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid initial grounding in people operations to get involved with all phases of the employee lifecycle. You're someone who loves:
Supporting employees to have a smooth journey through the organisation
Regular timetables and cadences - getting into a rhythm
Efficiently executing processes and spotting opportunities to better document and refine them
HR policies & compliance
You'll be surrounded and supported by a mixture of specialists and generalists:
The people operations function is going through a period of transformation, led by a People Operations Transformation Lead. While you will still get involved in pieces of project work, the main focus of your role will be working closely with the core people operations team to manage the recurring, ongoing 'Business As Usual'
We have a small but mighty team of experts in Payroll and Benefits, so they will take the lead on these aspects
Our Workplace Experience team are also on hand to work closely with you on anything relating to our physical office spaces and in-person touchpoints like Day 1 onboarding sessions
What you will do...
This role will support the Senior People Operations Specialist with the smooth running of an efficient, effective people support function, including:
Maintaining People processes that are replicable and scalable
Maintaining accurate employee records in our systems, including Workday, Culture Amp, Google Sheets and more
Onboarding & offboarding processes: ensuring new employees are set up on our systems, have everything they need for a successful induction & probation review, and have a smooth departure if & when they leave
Ensuring new starters have completed relevant background checks successfully and following up with in-person ID / right-to-work verification as required
Keeping on top of the regular calendar of People Operations processes and tasks throughout any given week/month/quarter/year
Answering employee queries via our helpdesk (ticketing system; currently Jira) across various topics including ways of working, references, leave (holiday, parental leave, sickness, etc), induction, offboarding
Creating and maintaining process guides and templates to drive efficiency and consistency
Helping to ensure a consistent employee experience across multiple geographies
Pulling data reports from our People systems as needed
Continually looking for opportunities to improve existing processes & ways of working across people operations
What you will bring....
Experience with Workday (HRIS): you understand how the system works and how to correctly & efficiently execute job changes, workflows and reporting.
Experience with Slack and Google Suite: you're confident collaborating using these systems.
Solid initial grounding and experience of people operations in the UK (some European knowledge would be a bonus but is not essential), including HR policies, employment law, compliance, all types of leave and general requirements throughout the whole employee lifecycle
You've worked in high-change startup/scaleup environments. You're comfortable with ambiguity, creative workarounds and building things from scratch when necessary
Data-driven mindset: understanding that it takes 'good data in' to get 'good data out', and confident in knowing how to structure things to make this happen
Experience in process documentation & templating; constant desire to make things more efficient
Growth mindset: you're keen to learn and rapidly pick up new skills "on the job"
Flexibility and willingness to get right into the details, interact directly with employees and answer support tickets
Proactivity and diligence: with superb attention to detail, you're a completer-finisher who loves to fully own a set of ongoing processes & tasks
Respect for people data: you're trustworthy and someone who handles confidential and sensitive information with integrity, with an understanding of data protection principles
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These "together days" foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.
That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.
With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.
Question: what's curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?
If you're keen to know the answer, you're a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.
If the following speak to you, let's talk:
You're curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
You're relentless. You keep going even when it's easier not to.
You're customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
