People Services supports all aspects of HR for the University staff community alongside the provision of organisational development, staff development, health and safety, and equality, diversity and inclusion. The Operational team provides advice and support for areas including casework, resourcing, recruitment, and staff development and the People Services Administrative Support post plays a key role as part of this team.



The People Services Administrative Support role will provide administrative support, advice and guidance on all stages of the Recruitment and Selection cycle. They will be responsible for advertising roles on various platforms, providing shortlisting documentation, liaising with managers and candidates to arrange interviews and will administer and issue contracts to successful candidates. The role-holder will ensure the University is compliant with laws in relation to right to work by carrying out checks in line with Home Office requirements. Additionally, the successful candidate will conduct new start induction meetings ensuring pre-employment checks are completed e.g. qualifications are in line with the essential criteria identified on each role profile and references have been received.


The People Services Administrative Support will be the first point of contact for all operational HR queries by managing the main People Services mailbox, liaising with colleagues and escalating issues as required. The role-holder will undertake cross-team duties as required by providing support to areas such as resourcing, casework and staff development.



The successful candidate will have exceptional customer service experience ideally gained from a demanding high paced administrative role. They will have the ability to interpret polices and processes such as recruitment and selection, right to work and compliance. The successful candidate must have strong working knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, online communication platforms (e.g. Teams) and use of databases as well as be able to work under pressure and prioritise their workload. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate that they have strong attention to detail and the ability to process efficiently and accurately as well as having an interest in progressing their career in an HR department.
