Job Description

People & Talent Manager

Role Overview:

At Hammonds, we're on a mission to make our company a great place to work--and as People & Talent Manager, you'll be at the centre of that transformation. This is a hands-on senior role within our newly formed People & Culture team, reporting into the Head of People Services and supporting the Head of Learning & People Experience, under the leadership of our new Chief People & Strategy Officer.

You'll help deliver our culture transformation, lead on quarterly OKRs, and bring the Hammonds Way to life--ensuring every employee's first 100 days is a standout experience. A core part of the role is driving the delivery of volume recruitment through RPO partners and enhancing our hiring impact through digital tools like Workvivo, Culture Amp, and AI-enabled systems.

With no direct reports, this is a role for someone who thrives on being hands-on, operationally involved, and solution-focused. You'll work at pace, influence stakeholders, and bring real energy to shaping a forward-thinking, customer-first, data-led people function.

Why This Role Matters:

Culture First: Lead the onboarding experience that defines what it means to work at Hammonds. Customer-Centric: Align recruitment and onboarding efforts with a customer-first mission. Data-Led: Use insight and analytics to continuously improve processes and decision-making. Delivery Focused: With no direct reports, this is a true delivery role--you'll be at the coalface making change happen. Digital Enablement: Drive modernisation and automation using new systems and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

RPO Delivery & Volume Recruitment

Drive the delivery of RPO-led volume recruitment, ensuring partners meet performance, quality, and service-level expectations. Collaborate with hiring managers and the RPO to align hiring activity with workforce needs. Analyse data and lead continuous improvement to ensure efficient and scalable recruitment operations.

Talent Acquisition & Campaign Management

Own the recruitment lifecycle across multiple business areas, delivering to agreed timelines and quality standards. Run high-impact campaigns with platforms like Indeed, managing job ad content and performance. Work closely with Marketing on social recruitment marketing and employer brand visibility. Lead offline brand activations and hiring events, enhancing regional brand awareness. Build and maintain strong succession and talent pipelines to support long-term workforce needs.

Employer Brand & EVP

Collaborate with Marketing to evolve and promote Hammonds' employer brand and EVP. Use feedback, analytics, and industry benchmarking to refine and target messaging.

First 100 Days & Welcome Experience

Design and improve the first 100 days onboarding experience, ensuring it's consistent, engaging, and culture-aligned. Partner with the Head of Learning & People Experience to deliver a structured and impactful induction programme. Monitor early employee experience data and feedback to reduce early attrition.

Reward Framework Implementation

Support the phased implementation of a new reward framework, working with People Services and senior stakeholders. Use benchmarking and insight to help shape fair, future-focused approaches to pay and benefits.

Workforce Planning & Succession Management

Contribute to operational workforce planning across functions. Help identify future capability needs and support talent mapping to strengthen internal succession and resilience.

Digital & AI Integration

Maximise the effectiveness of platforms like Workvivo and Culture Amp to enhance engagement, visibility, and experience. Leverage AI-powered tools to streamline recruitment, onboarding, and reporting processes.

What You'll Bring

Proven track record in driving RPO delivery and managing high-volume recruitment. Strong experience in recruitment campaign management, including platform partnerships (e.g., Indeed). Confident working cross-functionally, especially with Marketing, to execute brand-aligned recruitment. Knowledge of onboarding and induction best practices, with a focus on engagement and early retention. Familiarity with reward frameworks and supporting people projects from implementation to delivery. Data-savvy mindset, able to use insight to inform people decisions and measure impact. Hands-on, self-sufficient, and committed to delivering continuous improvement in everything you do.
