We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide essential support to individuals requiring assistance in their daily lives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, particularly in dementia care, and will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and comfort of those they assist. This role involves a variety of tasks that require both physical capability and emotional intelligence, making it crucial for the Personal Assistant to be attentive, reliable, and nurturing.
Responsibilities
Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
Assist with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary to ensure client safety and comfort.
Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations or activities to enhance their quality of life.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping tasks as needed.
Document care provided and report any significant changes in client health or behaviour to appropriate personnel.
Drive clients to appointments or social outings as required, ensuring their safety during transport.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
Requirements
Previous experience in personal care or nursing home settings is preferred.
Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
Certification in first aid and CPR is an advantage.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach towards patient care.
A valid driving licence is required for transporting clients as needed.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting client privacy at all times.
