We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Personal Assistant to support the Director of Residential Conveyancing.

be

based?

This role will be based from our Durham office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, its not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, and the Director you are supporting.

of

the

role:

This role works within the Residential Conveyancing team, supporting the Director in the day-to-day running of the department. You will provide high-level administrative and organisational support, managing the Directors diary, inbox, and task list, and assisting with elements of their client caseload. You will be expected to take a proactive approach to managing tasks and enabling the Director to focus on their wider strategic and fee-earning responsibilities.

Your work will primarily come through delegation from the Director, though there will be opportunities to take initiative and manage tasks independently.

Provide high-level administrative and organisational support to the Director. Manage the Directors diary, emails, task list, and appointments. Draft correspondence and documentation on behalf of the Director. Liaise professionally with clients, colleagues, and external contacts. Organise and prepare for meetings, including papers, minutes, and action tracking. Support the Directors expert witness work, including scheduling and paperwork. Assist with document management and organisation of the Directors caseload. Co-ordinate travel arrangements and process expenses. Contribute to departmental organisation, communication, and project work. Review and improve administrative systems and processes. Support business development and marketing activities relevant to the department. Assist with ad hoc tasks or provide occasional support to other team members as needed. Enable the Director to focus on strategic leadership and team development by managing operational tasks efficiently.

able

to

perform

this

job

you

will

need:



Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or in a similar senior administrative role, ideally supporting a Director or Partner. Strong organisational skills, with proven experience of diary management, meeting co-ordination, and proactive task handling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and confidential approach. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using email systems, online portals, and other business technology. Ability to prioritise, multitask and work to deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail. Confident using initiative, exercising sound judgement, and managing tasks independently. Flexible, self-motivated, and solutions-focused with a positive can do attitude. Strong team player, able to collaborate and contribute to a supportive working environment. Educated to a good standard, including GCSEs in English and Maths; A-levels or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in a legal or client-facing professional services environment is desirable.
