I'm a 27-year-old woman with a progressive muscle-wasting condition (limb-girdle muscular dystrophy). I use a wheelchair and hoist and am physically dependent on support, but I value independence, dignity, and honesty.
I'm looking for reliable, down-to-earth Personal Assistants who understand that good care is about consistency, trust, and treating someone like a human -- not a task list.
What the Role Involves
Hours
I have funding in place for up to 42 hours per week. My expectation is that this is allocated between up to 3 PAs, depending on individual hours and weekly rotas.
The rota will cover 7 days per week. Please indicate when you apply if you are looking for weekdays, or weekends, or both.
Support varies day to day depending on fatigue and pain. Tasks may include:
Personal Care & Mobility
Hoisting and safe transfers
Helping me get in and out of bed
Support with toileting, washing, showering, dressing
Hair washing and personal grooming
Skin care (moisturising/tanning - important for my wellbeing)
Daily Living
Assistance with food and drinks when needed
Light meal prep (help with lifting, oven use, draining pans)
Putting washing on and checking washing machine / dryer
Light household tasks (quick kitchen/bathroom clean, hoovering if needed)
Driving to appointments in my adapted Motorbility van.
Checking bins
Helping feed my cat
General Support
Being flexible and calm when my body doesn't cooperate
Supporting my independence where possible, without pressure
Respecting privacy, dignity, and boundaries
What I'm Looking For
You don't need previous PA experience (training can be given), but you do need to be:
Reliable and on time (this is very important)
Comfortable with personal care
Calm, patient, and respectful
Able to adapt to fluctuating needs
Someone who understands mental wellbeing is part of care
Living in close proximity to Reigate RH2.
Consistency matters more to me than anything. Familiar faces make a huge difference.
Why This Role Matters
I've had poor experiences with agency care in the past, including missed and late calls, which seriously affected my mental health. I'm now building a small, consistent PA team so I can live safely and with dignity in my own home.
If you're someone who genuinely cares about helping someone live their life -- not just "doing tasks" -- this role could be a good fit.
