About the Direct Payment Holder

A man in his early 40s with severe learning difficulties is looking for a Personal Assistant.

He lives independently in his own home and is quite capable, but requires prompting and support with daily routines.

His speech can be difficult to understand at first, but with time and familiarity, communication becomes easier.

He enjoys playing dominoes, doing art, and going for a daily walk.

Hours and rate of pay

13.50 per hour

2 shifts on Sundays, 2 Sundays per month:

11:00am - 5:00pm 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Location

Cambridge (CB1)

DBS/Checks

Confirmation of DBS check

Right to Work and references will be needed.

Training

Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:

Safeguarding Adults Introduction to first aid Health and Safety / Moving and handling

What you would be doing...

Supporting with personal care (mainly prompting, including toileting)

Meal preparation, shopping for groceries, and cooking

Assisting with everyday chores such as laundry and maintaining a clean home environment

Supporting with social outings and community activities such as shopping, cinema and leisure activities

Establishing a close, supportive working relationship on a 1:1 basis

Adapting to daily needs as duties and tasks may vary

Required skills and experience

Genuine interest in providing high-quality care

Cheerful, patient, kind, with a good sense of humour

Able to build trust and understanding within the role

Hardworking, reliable, committed, honest, and trustworthy

Common sense and the ability to use initiative

Flexible and willing to get involved in the client's hobbies and daily activities

Good communication skills

Experience of supporting someone with learning difficulties is helpful (through family, school, or community), but not essential
