Summary
Extremely rewarding opportunity to become part of my son's life - supporting him with an empowering approach to help him live his life as he wishes.
About the role
My son is 29 years old and is autistic and has learning difficulties.
We relocated to North Wales from Scotland over a year ago, and my son is settling well . He attends a supported work place during the week, and we are now looking for an individual to support him for a few hours each week to help him access the community, forge new friendships and build on his independent skills.
My son is a good natured, friendly individual who is relatively shy but has a great sense of humour (very much into slapstick humour!).
He is a vegetarian, enjoys collecting animated videos - particularly Pingu and Thomas the Tank Engine.
My son is autistic and very sensitive to noise - he does wear earphones to reduce noise around him but if he does become overwhelmed, he will often remove himself from the situation.
He enjoys walking, going swimming and enjoys going bowling. He has a deep affection for animals and likes trips to petting farms and zoo's. He is a kind and gentle person who takes pleasure in being active.
He has no sense of danger and requires prompts with daily life tasks.
The personal assistant role will involve supporting my son to develop his independence, accompanying him on trips out, going out on the bus, going for meals etc
