Personal Assistant / Support Worker (Female preference due to needs)
Location: The Headingley area of Leeds, LS6.
Job Summary
As a Personal Assistant employed through Leeds City Council Direct Payments scheme, you will provide support to a young person with learning disabilities and assist with a variety of tasks both within the home and out in the community. This will include promoting their independence and supporting their wellbeing and healthcare needs. This role also enables the young person's family to live their own personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the Young Person
Female aged 23-year-old who has Autism and a rare Syndrome. She is a bubbly and energetic young person with a big personality and lots of love to give. Can be fast-paced and likes to keep herself busy with numerous activities throughout the month such as attending discos and social clubs.
Routine and consistency are extremely important due to her needs, and finds last minute changes to plans quite difficult. She also likes to plan ahead and can be thrown if something does not go according to her plans; she can also exhibit some behaviours that challenge if she is dysregulated.
Responsibilities
As a Personal Assistant you will be required to:
Support to access the local community and local public transport.
Support to attend clubs and Provide support within the home and support the family through respite from their caring role.
There is the potential this role may include overnight support at the family home but this can be built on.

.Have the ability/experience to support individuals with behaviours that challenge
.Have a full driving license

Competitive rate of pay (15.69 (hourly)
If overnight support is required, sleeping hours 10pm - 7 am are paid at national living wage.
Hours
We currently have one PA and you will work alongside them when they take leave or unable to fulfil any hours. I will of course plan these with yourself in advance and ensure you have weekly hours by sharing the full allocated hours Between both workers.
There is scope for more for the right person. some occasional over night stays will be required once training and settled in to the role.
Please note these hours can be at unsociable times due to needs and plans of the young person. This role would suit someone who is studying a health or social care education. Please also note that a commitment to hours planned must be a priority, so good time management and organisation is a must. Full driving licence essential and can use family car if needed.
