We are seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to provide one-to-one befriending support for a young child with autism. This role is designed to offer companionship, social interaction, and encouragement in a safe and positive environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support and companionship for the child during agreed hours.
Engage the child in age-appropriate activities that encourage play, communication, and social skills.
Adapt interactions to meet the individual needs and preferences of the child.
Work collaboratively with the parent/carer to ensure consistency of care and support.
Ensure the child's safety and wellbeing at all times.
Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience of working with or supporting children (formal or informal).
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
Reliable and able to commit to weekly sessions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable:
Previous experience of working with children with autism.
Relevant training in childcare, autism awareness, or safeguarding.
Flexibility to occasionally cover additional hours if required.
