Job Description

I am looking for a calm, patient and happy personal assistant for my 15 year-old son with Autism.

As a PA, you would provide my son with care and company in our home. He enjoys building with Lego, baking/cooking, art, board games and playing music. It would be great if you could do some of these things with him.

My son can be stubborn with things such as having a bath, getting to appointments on time due to being fixated on other things he wants to do, so help with persuading him to get in the bath, and to get out the door to get to appointments on time would be desirable. Also, depending on timings, it would be helpful if you could accompany me to his medical appointments for caring support.

Further down the line, once he has built up the confidence with you, it would also be good if you could take him out on walks, or to the supermarket.

My son is a lovely boy and usually appears very calm but suffers with severe anxiety and selective mutism (he only speaks to myself and his Nan) so won't speak to you verbally. However, he is capable of communicating (usually by typing a message), and he does really enjoy being talked to, so it is important that, as a PA, you will talk to him and give him time to respond back to you. As he becomes more confident with you, he will use various facial expressions and become more expressive. He also likes to play pranks on people he is comfortable with!

I may also need ad-hoc support with general house chores, shopping and cleaning.

The ideal candidate must:

- Have previous experience of working with children/teenagers with disabilities essential..

- Be comfortable around dogs, as we have 2 small dogs in the household.

- Have their own car and driving licence.

Days/times

Thursdays 10:00-13:00

Friday 10:00-13:00

Saturday or Sunday: 5 hours (timings can be flexible)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.00-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 11 per week
