Job Role - Personal Assistant -

We are looking for a reliable, confident, and proactive

Personal Assistant (PA)

to support a young person, at home and in the community. This role aims to promote independence, safety and enjoyable access to meaningful activities.

About the Role

You will support a family with a young adult who has additional needs. He is

non-verbal

, uses

PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)

, and responds well to

prompts, modelling, and basic spoken commands

. The PA should feel confident engaging with a young adult who uses alternative communication methods.
Support is mainly required for:

Community access and social activities

- cycling (Bristol Family Cycling Centre), parks, playgrounds, walks, shopping trips, bowling, concerts

Personal care

- requires support when using bathroom facilities. Prompting is usually sufficient, but direct assistance is provided when necessary

Domestic support

- minimal 1:1 task such as light cleaning or laundry

Meal preparation/cooking

as required

Pay & Employment Details

Hourly rate:

12.60 per hour

Start date:

ASAP (flexible) Paid through

PAYE

(not cash-in-hand) Mileage may be reimbursed if included in the care plan

Working Pattern

Support is needed at different times depending on the school schedule:

Term time:

Any time

School holidays:

Evenings and daytime support

Weekends:

Mainly required

Total hours:

6 hours per week

Hours are flexible to meet the family's needs.

Experience & Skills

The PA

must have previous care experience

supporting children or young people with additional or communication needs. Confidence with

visual communication systems (such as PECS)

, de-escalation, and supporting an energetic child in community activities is essential.
