We are seeking someone local with experience supporting SEN and complex needs children to support us as a respite carer.
Ideally 3 hours a fortnight in the evening term time on a Monday or Tuesday and then for a 6 hour day out in half terms instead. But we are happy to arrange a more flexible schedule for the right person.
Supporting a lively, happy, 6 year old sensory seeking little girl, who loves to jump, climb, and has special interests in Frozen and Trolls.
The little girl has sensory processing disorder, autism, and is non verbal, but uses pecs, Makaton, and hand gestures to communicate. She can also suffer with migraines, seizures and cyclic vomiting, but they are well controlled at the moment. She can require administration of medications.
To begin with you will be required to work at the family's home, supporting with playtime and bedtime routines to build up a relationship with the child. The role will eventually involve taking her out to places of interest such as parks, local attractions and soft play. Due to her lack of danger awareness, she will need constant supervision to ensure she is safe and does not elope or harm herself or others.

The ideal person will be able to remain calm, and not panic if they find themselves in a situation where she could be in danger, or trying to harm herself. And have plenty of energy and fun to keep up with her.Full UK Driving licence

Experience in Pecs or Makaton be would desirable

Summary terms and conditions:The rate of pay for this position is 12.38 per hour (set by the council under short breaks funding)
Hours and times of work: 3 hours a fortnight ideally on a Tuesday after school or of an evening term time and then changing to a 6 hour day out in the half terms. Exact times and days to be discussed at interview.
Free Training can be provided to employed staff.

Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months
