Looking for a friendly and empathetic PA for an energetic 6 year old boy. We are looking for an experienced PA to help support a young boy with Autism, disordered speech sounds and physical health conditions. He likes playing Minecraft, going to soft play and being outdoors and dislikes loud noises and noisy toys. Although he has physical health conditions he spins and jumps to regulate and when unregulated his sense of danger is impaired and can run into danger. Duties to include -
Helping with personal care
Keeping him regulated: managing sensory levels to prevent sensory overload
Helping with communication
Managing risk and safety
Supporting with time out the home
Supporting parent to take him out
Visiting soft play, park, swimming etc
Shifts to be worked as 2 hours on Saturday, 2 hours on Sunday. Hours generally on a morning between 9am - 12pm depending on activity.
The ideal candidate would be - confident, energetic, caring, forward thinking in awareness of risks in surroundings, autism friendly and open minded.
Desirable skills/experience -
Experience with autism in children
Understanding of sensory processing
Understanding of delayed physical development due to health issues
Must be ok with dogs in the home and happy around other animals and birds
Must be physically capable of managing an energetic 6 year old who you may need to run after
