Personal Injury Paralegal

We are looking for a Paralegal to join the Personal Injury team in central Bristol to support and undertake legal work on behalf of clients pursuing Personal Injury claims and provide administrative support to the team, and wider department.

The work of the team includes accidents at work, public liability claims, road accidents, with a specific focus on cycling claims, industrial disease and beauty treatment claims.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of claims, supporting the lawyers within the team and acting as a first point of contact for all new enquiries.

Our Personal Injury team is ranked in Chambers and Partners UK and Legal 500. Members of the team have also been individually recognised by both legal directories for their expertise.

The role

Day-to-day duties include:

Triaging claims. Taking instructions. Attendance on clients. File opening procedures. Undertaking compliance checks. Identifying appropriate funding and applying for LEI. Keeping detailed file notes of instructions received and of advice given and of any other attendances upon clients and other parties. Completing relevant forms. Submitting claims. Using the MoJ portal. Using relevant search engines (including AskMID and MedCo). Obtaining medical records and other records. Preparing trial bundles and managing documents including compilation of bundles of documents, and the delivery and collection. Dealing with appropriate Court proceedings and applications (including attendance at Court). Legal research. Monitoring claims. Drafting of schedules of loss. Valuing claims and settling claims. Drafting of meeting agendas and taking minutes. Assisting lawyers with l work on their cases. Accurately recording time and meeting monthly time targets. Liaising with the Marketing team, helping to draft case reports and blogs and working on Legal Directory submissions for Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners UK and drafting applications to relevant organisations, including Headway and SIA. Complying with the firm's policies and procedures, including but not limited to accounts procedures, anti-money laundering and compliance.

The ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate would have experience in Personal Injury law and be familiar with the MoJ low-value portal. However, previous experience is not essential and on-the-job training will be provided.

The successful applicant will:

Have a flexible approach in order to manage a varied workload. Be capable of managing their own time effectively. Be IT literate and confident using and adapting to new systems and processes. Know how to use a time recording facility.
Marketing and business development skills, such as knowledge and experience of social media and networking would be beneficial as would previous experience working within the Bristol market.

Location and working hours

Full-time (office hours are 9am - 5.15pm, Monday to Friday) Part-time considered (four days per week minimum) The role is based at our Prince House office with the option to apply for hybrid working upon successful completion of your probation
