About the role Our Pricing Department is a well-established and thriving function which focuses on delivering long term value for our customers rather than working to short-term profit targets. This role sits within the Motor Pricing team and will focus on formulating and achieving the pricing strategy for our Motor products with a specific initial focus on Car but will influence both Commercial Motor (especially Van) and Tractor with a particular emphasis on assessing the accuracy and improving our pricing models, as well as determining the final price charged to the customers. As a Pricing Consultant, you'll be leading a small team responsible for recommending and managing the motor portfolio pricing strategies through analysing internal and external data sets, utilising various pricing models and working closely with the wider Pricing Department, such as Data, Modelling and Risk Pricing teams, and external stakeholders, including Underwriting, Distribution, Claims and Finance. You'll be actively involved with monitoring and improving the integrity and accuracy of pricing models and you'll conduct regular scenario planning and impact assessments of potential pricing actions on key metrics such as conversation rates, retention rates and profitability. You will be a line manager to a small team of analysts and coach and mentor more junior colleagues supporting their development and helping with technical queries. About you As a commercially minded and customer oriented professional, you will have extensive experience in working within the General Insurance sector with specific prior experience in Insurance Pricing, ideally motor. You will have a proven track record of analysing complex data, drawing conclusions and delivering commercially sound recommendations in order to achieve fair and accurate customer prices. Ideally you will also have experience in a product ownership. You'll possess the ability to take into account all relevant internal and external factors to formulate a comprehensive view of the market and deliver street prices in accordance with NFU Mutual's policy. You'll be competent using Radar and ideally have experience with price optimisation. You will be an excellent communicator able to forge effective stakeholder relationships, as well as to navigate difficult conversations and influence decisions.
