About
the role
As a Personal Tutor in our specialist SEND provision, you will play a central role in supporting the personal, social, and academic development of learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and a range of learning needs. You'll work closely with curriculum staff, the EHCP and inclusion team, and external professionals to ensure learners are safe, supported, and making meaningful progress toward adulthood.
This role focuses on delivering high-quality tutorial sessions, contributing to EHCP reviews and multiagency meetings, and offering personalised pastoral support through regular 1:1s and small group sessions. You will be a key contact for learners and their families, promoting positive relationships and ensuring student voice shapes their experience at college.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, tailored group tutorial sessions focusing on independence, wellbeing, preparation for adulthood, and personal development, aligned to EHCP outcomes and SHAPE themes.
Conduct regular 1:1 pastoral meetings with learners to support emotional regulation, self-advocacy, and progression.
Collaborate with the EHCP team to prepare for and contribute to annual reviews, including gathering learner views, monitoring progress towards outcomes, and supporting target setting.
Track and monitor student progress against EHCP outcomes, starting points, and personal goals using agreed college systems.
Identify and assess pastoral or wellbeing needs, implementing appropriate interventions and escalating concerns to safeguarding or therapeutic teams as required.
Work in close partnership with curriculum staff to embed inclusive practices and ensure reasonable adjustments are in place and effective.
Liaise regularly with parents/carers and external professionals (e.g., social workers, therapists) to ensure coordinated support.
Support with induction, transitions, and internal progression planning for learners, including toward supported internships, independent living, or further study.
Contribute to a culture of inclusion and student voice by encouraging feedback, enabling self-expression, and celebrating success.
Maintain accurate and timely records of interventions, EHCP contributions, and tutorial attendance.

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between 32,523 - 36,566 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
